| Project Hope to Abolish The Death Penalty
(PHADP) Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty is an inmate founded and run, 501(C) (3) anti death penalty organization.
Founded in 1989, it became our mission to work together with family, friends, supporters and other advocates to educate the public and bring about the abolition of capital punishment.
PHADP is run by a seven member Board of Directors at Holman prison, on death row. We also have a joint, civilian and inmate, Executive Committee.
We publish and produce, on death row, a bi-forcated newsletter entitled "On Wings of Hope", a Christian perspective quarterly and free of charge to our domestic audience (we request a small donation to help cover overseas expenses).
Once a year in October, we hold a Remembrance Day Vigil on death row and on the Step of the state Capitol in remembrance of all victims of violence.
Currently, PHADP leads the nation in city council resolution passed calling for a moratorium on capital punishment. This national program is Project Hope's principle project at the moment. Our National Representative, Esther Brown accepts speaking engagements on behalf of the organization concerning cities and groups interested in joining this cause, or to speak on capital punishment in general. We also have two exonarated Alabama death row inmates who are speakers for PHADP.
If you would like more information on how you can join our email group in order to receive updated information on Alabama's capital punishment system and order relevant information on capital punishment, or would like to support our efforts with a tax deductible donation, please go to our website.
